Scarface ticket fraudster strikes Whitehorse

A man pretending to run a major ticket selling business has duped at least one Whitehorse resident with fake Michael Buble tickets.

The man, who has not been formally charged but is being sought by police, is suspected of running the same scheme in British Columbia, Quebec, and the Maritimes, RCMP said in a release.

Potential concert goers should be wary of any business using the names By Town Tickets, Rocket Mountain Tickets and Hogtown Tickets. There are blogs currently compiling lists of people who were duped by these fake businesses, said RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Don Rogers.

The man tricked one Whitehorse resident by offering cheap tickets to a Buble concert in Vancouver. The victim booked a hotel at a reduced rate in exchange for a ticket. He was given receipts and invoices, but was never sent a ticket, police said.

The fraudster is described as having a scar above his eye. He is a 177-centimetres tall, Caucasian male and weighs 79 kilograms. He has brown eyes and brown hair, said police. (James Munson)
