RCMP have carried out a search warrant for information held at the Yukon government’s Economic Development offices, according to an email obtained by the News

The June 4 email from deputy minister Deborah Lemaire contains the subject line “notification of investigation at department.”

The email indicates the territorial Justice department’s legal counsel has been notified.

“We are cooperating with the RCMP’s investigation,” reads the email.

No additional details are provided given the ongoing investigation.

In the email, staff are being directed not to discuss the matter with anyone contacting the department with inquiries about it.

Police confirmed by email to the News that they executed a search warrant for the same reason mentioned above.

RCMP declined to elaborate given the ongoing investigation.

The Economic Development department didn’t respond to the News’ request by publication.
