RCMP release photos of man who allegedly robbed Whitehorse hotel with weapon

For investigative reasons, police won’t identify the type of weapon the unknown man in a face covering allegedly used

RCMP are sharing photos of someone in a light blue coat, dark toque and face covering in hopes of identifying a man who allegedly had a weapon when he robbed a hotel on Main Street in Whitehorse earlier today.

Sometime after 8:15 a.m. on Feb. 17, an unknown man with his face covered entered the front lobby of the Edgewater Hotel, as noted in a release by police.

He showed a weapon and demanded money, according to the release.

For investigative purposes, Yukon RCMP won’t release what type of weapon was allegedly used.

Police described the man in his middle-to-late 30s and between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall. They said he wore a light blue coat and a dark toque.

Police are asking the public to help identify the man but not to approach him. If he is seen, police are saying to contact RCMP at 867-667-5555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
