A 42-year-old Whitehorse man has been arrested by RCMP for allegations of “several firearm-related incidents” over the span of multiple months, according to police.
The incidents allegedly took place at the Drury Creek highway camp located between Carmacks and Faro, noted in a press release issued July 5 by Yukon RCMP.
Ross River RCMP got a report on June 20 and carried out an investigation with the Yukon crime reduction unit.
On the evening of June 28, officers with the critical incident program, which the RCMP website states provides tactical support during large-scale or critical incidents that impact protected persons or sites, made the arrest, per the release.
Adam Kyle Simpson Morrison was arrested for “several firearm offences” around where the Takhini Hot Springs Road meets the North Klondike Highway, police said.
Search warrants have also been done by the crime reduction and major crimes units at a home.
Key details about exactly what happened and when the alleged crimes occurred are left out of the release, although the charges are listed.
Morrison is facing charges of possessing a loaded gun without authorization, pointing a gun, multiple counts of possessing a prohibited device, two counts of unsafely storing a loaded handgun and multiple counts of unauthorized possession of non-restricted firearms.
The release notes he appeared in court on June 29 at 10 a.m., in which case he was remanded into custody until the next day. On June 30, he was released under conditions. His next court date is scheduled for the morning of July 10.
