Premier makes 2 leadership changes at government’s highest levels

New deputy minister of Economic Development and acting Public Service commissioner appointed

Premier Ranj Pillai has made a couple of changes at the top tier of territorial government.  

Samantha Paterson has been selected as deputy minister of Economic Development and Lyle Dinn has been chosen as acting Public Service commissioner. 

Paterson has 32 years under the belt with the Yukon government including as assistant deputy minister of Corporate Services in Energy, Mines, and Resources since 2021. 

Paterson’s appointment takes effect July 16. Deborah Lemaire was temporarily filling in for the part, according to Pillai’s statement in the release. 

Dinn has 12 years of experience with the territorial government including as assistant deputy minister of the Human Resources Service Centre. 

Dinn started in the role July 12. Sherri Young is moving onto a new role, Pillai said in the release.
