Police seek help finding man

Police are asking that the public be on the look-out for a Whitehorse man accused of sexual assault causing bodily harm. After receiving a report of a sexual assault on Tuesday, August 4, the RCMP obtained an arrest warrant for Christian James Gallan, 33.

Police are asking that the public be on the look-out for a Whitehorse man accused of sexual assault causing bodily harm.

After receiving a report of a sexual assault on Tuesday, August 4, the RCMP obtained an arrest warrant for Christian James Gallan, 33.

Gallan is Caucasian, stands 173 cm (5’8’‘) and weighs 70 kg (155 lbs). He has short brown hair and brown eyes. He’s known to frequent Whitehorse’s downtown area.

Anyone who knows of Gallan’s whereabouts is asked to call the Whitehorse RCMP detachment at 667-5555, or Crimestoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS.


Cops, coroner study motorcycle death


Yukon’s RCMP and coroner are investigating the cause of a fatal motorcycle crash beside the Carcross Desert on Saturday.

A tour bus operator spotted a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle while driving along the South Klondike Highway past the desert around 8:30 a.m. A 51-year-old Carcross man was found dead at the scene.

The crash was believed to have occurred sometime earlier that morning.

The man’s name has been withheld pending the results of an autopsy.

The RCMP are investigating whether speed and alcohol-consumption contributed to the crash.
