Yukon News columnist Brian Brett has won the Writers’ Trust Non-fiction Prize for his new book, Trauma Farm: A Rebel History of Rural Life. The prize, which brings with it a cash award of $25,000, was announced last night at a gala in Toronto. Trauma Farm was published this fall by Greystone Books of Vancouver.

Brett who, with his wife Sharon, operates a farm on Saltspring Island in British Columbia, was writer-in-residence with the Yukon Public Library System in the winter of 1998. His is the former president of the Writers Union of Canada and the author of many books of poetry and fiction.
