Sunday, May 11 — Pentecost Sunday commemorates the “descent” of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. This Christian feast originally was a Jewish harvest festival also celebrating the end of Passover time or the giving of the law to Moses. A suggested reading is Acts 2:1-11.                     

Thursday, May 15 – International Day on Conscientious Objection. This year War Resisters’ International has chosen as its theme: conscientious objection for professional soldiers and countering military recruitment.

Thursday, May 15 – The International Day of Families is a United Nation’s observance whose theme this year “Fathers and Families: Responsibilities and Challenges” recognizes the crucial role of fathers in co-parenting children.
