Mellisa Murray drops out of Whitehorse mayoral race

Murray was first elected to Whitehorse city council in 2021.

Coun. Mellisa Murray is no longer running for mayor. 

In post on her campaign Facebook page on the afternoon of Sept. 20, Murray said she pulled out from the race due to personal reasons. In the post, Murray thanked her supporters, saying she was forever grateful for those who stood behind her. 

Murray had announced her intentions to run for the city's top job in July of this year. She was first elected to city council in 2021, having won her seat with the most overall votes in the council race. 

Dan Bushnell and Coun. Kirk Cameron are the other two candidates running for mayor. The News will continue to provide comprehensive coverage on other mayoral candidate announcements as they occur in the lead-up to the Oct. 17 election.
