The RCMP including a dive team are searching the area where a truck and trailer crashed into the Yukon River south of Whitehorse on Sept. 16. One of the truck's two occupants swam to safety and received medical attention, the other is still missing.
The truck crashed into the water in the vicinity of the Lewes River Bridge early in the morning Sept. 16. The missing man has been unaccounted for since then.
A Sept. 19 update from the RCMP states that it is conducting "extensive searches" for the missing man.
Search efforts include the deployment of divers from the British Columbia RCMP's underwater recovery team.
Additional information provided through the RCMP M Division communications team states that divers have searched the truck and the other vehicles that were being towed on its trailer. All but one of the towed vehicles have been recovered.
"At the time of this release, the male has not been located. Search efforts continue. Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family during this difficult time," the RCMP update reads.
