Whitehorse RCMP tracked a local man on suspicion of fraud last week after he allegedly cashed 47 bad cheques totaling $49,000.

On Friday, officers arrested a suspicious individual who was in possession of the Steve’s Music Shop cheques.

Earlier that day, the RCMP had warned local businesses to be on the lookout for cheques written under that account.

The cheques appeared legitimate, but the shop closed its doors in early June.

Forty-year-old Kevin Kohlauser of Dawson City was charged with one count of fraud and one count of forgery.

He was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday. (LC)
