Kluane First Nation re-elects Robert Dickson as chief

The Kluane First Nation has re-elected Robert (Bob) Dickson as Kwänathi inlį (chief).

Voters also elected Joyce Johnson-Albert as Elder councillor, and Di’yet van Leishout and Kathleen Johnson as councillors-at-large, according to election results posted to Facebook by the the First Nation.

The newly elected council was sworn in on Aug. 27 at Jacquot Hall in Burwash Landing.

Premier Ranj Pillai congratulated Dickson on his re-election in a statement highlighting the strong government-to-government relationship between the Yukon government and Kluane First Nation.

As noted in the statement, Dickson has undertaken several projects with the Yukon government including starting the construction of the Kêts’ádań Kų̀ school in Burwash Landing, signing a 2024 agreement for sheep conservation in southwest Yukon and finalizing a 2019 income tax sharing agreement with Kluane First Nation.
