NDP MLA Kevin Barr has repaid the property taxes he owed the Yukon government for 2015, according to an NDP spokesperson.

As of Jan. 3 this year, Barr owed a total of $1,478.03 for two lots he owns at Crag Lake, near Carcross. This outstanding amount, which was due on July 2, was recently published in a government advertisement.

“As soon as Mr. Barr was made aware of this outstanding amount from the last fiscal year, he promptly paid it in full,” NDP spokesperson Mike Fancie said in an email.

“Barr is currently not in debt to the government.”

Last week, Barr announced his plan to run for re-election in Mount Lorne-Southern Lakes in this year’s territorial election campaign.
