Paddlers are being urged to stay away from a remote wildfire now raging on both sides of the Teslin River.
“Do not stop, under any circumstances, in the area of the fire,” says a public advisory by Yukon Wildland Fire Management.
“Keep to the middle of the river,” it adds.
Paddlers are also being advised to travel through the fire in the morning, “as fire is most active in the middle of the day and early evening.”
Otherwise, the fire doesn’t pose a threat, since it is burning in a wilderness area. It is being monitored by officials. (Tristin Hopper)
