I believe this photograph is of the Whitehorse waterfront, taken around the late 1920s or early 1930s.

The Whitehorse Inn appears in the photo and it was built in 1928. As you can see, steamboats played a prominent role in our history.

Our current waterfront now consists of millions of dollars of fancy lampposts, blacktop, etc. There is nothing about our fabulous steamboat history.

The Whitehorse shipyards produced many steamboats and we had a wonderful river history. We should remember our steamboat history of the past, our steamboat captains and boat crews.

Please write in to this column and voice your opinion about this problem.

We have to start using our imagination regarding the Whitehorse waterfront.
