A fallen tree caused an afternoon power outage in Copper Ridge on Friday.

“We had those high winds,” said Jay Massie, superintendent of operations at Yukon Electrical Company Ltd.

The wind blew down a tree over a power line that links the McIntyre substation with Copper Ridge. Power went out shortly before 4 p.m. in the McIntyre, Arkell and Logan subdivisions, said Massie.

The last customers to receive power had their lights back on at around 5:20 p.m.

The power line runs from the substation at the corner of the Alaska Highway and Fish Lake Road through the Mount McIntyre cross-country ski trails until it ends in Copper Ridge.

“We had to cut the tree and then we re-energized,” said Massie.
