Gold goes missing at Skky Hotel

A Skky Hotel customer is probably wishing he had the Midas Touch after his $39,000 worth of gold nuggets were stolen.

The customer had been displaying his gold to prospective business partners but when he got up to pay his breakfast bill, he forgot the gold on the table.

The blue transparent Tupperware with six to eight large nuggets and over 20 medium nuggets was gone when he returned to the table. Perhaps the Tupperware was mistaken as a doggy bag from breakfast.

But the RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in finding the gold-digging Tupperware robber.

“At some point whoever stole this gold will attempt to sell it and we are hoping that whoever has that information will call and assist police in returning this property to the rightful owners,” Sgt. Don Rogers of the Whitehorse RCMP said in a press release.

People, such as Skky staff, who had access to the gold on the morning of June 23 have been interviewed by RCMP in relation to the theft.

The anonymous victim is a known business man around Whitehorse, but it is not known if he lives in the city, said Rogers.
