Yukon’s Department of Energy, Mines and Resources will have a new deputy minister, starting next month.

George Ross has been appointed to the job, the government announced last week.

Ross brings with him more than 30 years of senior executive experience in the public sector, according to the news release.

“We will benefit greatly from his experience and expertise,” said Premier Darrell Pasloski in the release. “He has a strong track record of public sector leadership.”

Ross has been a deputy minister for the Government of Ontario for the past six years with the ministries of research and innovation, consumer services, and northern development and mines.

Ross replaces Shirley Abercrombie, who had been the acting deputy minister.
