An Elections Canada sign directs voters where to vote at Whitehorse Elks Lodge #306 at 401 Hawkins St. in the Yukon's capital on April 11, 2025.

Elections Canada will be setting up a special ballot kiosk in West Dawson on April 21.

Due to the ice bridge being closed for the season as of April 7, there are a number of voters in West Dawson who are having issues casting their ballot for the upcoming federal election on April 28, according to a spokesperson for Elections Canada.

Thus, the returning officer will be setting up a special ballot kiosk on Easter Monday in West Dawson so that electors in the area can vote.

They also said the poll will be at the Ferry Landing on the west side of the Yukon River, and it will be open from noon to 2 p.m. However, if there is high demand at the kiosk, the spokesperson said Elections Canada will ensure everyone is able to vote, even after 2 p.m.

Furthermore, as the vote will be by special ballot, anyone can vote at this kiosk, even if they do not permanently live in Dawson.

Anyone interested in voting at this kiosk can call the returning officer at 1-866-564-6480 for details.
