Vandals in Porter Creek have been trashing city-owned garbage and compost containers.
Using vehicles, the vandals have smashed numerous containers, costing the city thousands of dollars.
Tamarack Drive and 12th Avenue in Porter Creek have been most targeted for the garbage “hit and runs.”
The city will be purchasing new compost and garbage containers at $100 a pop.
“This just escalates the costs the city already spends each year on vandalism,” said Mayor Bev Buckway in a release.
