Parts of the airport area trails that closed earlier this spring have reopened to trail users, the City of Whitehorse announced in a notice on June 6.

Localized erosion due to the spring thaw prompted temporary closures of sections of the East Airport Access Road Trail, including small connector trails in the area, for precautionary reasons, the city said on April 10.

Now that the ground is dry and stable, the trail is open again, according to the latest notice.

The city continues monitoring water seepage and potential slides along the escarpment using a slope scanner, engineering inspections, drone surveys and more.
