Demolition of old DQ building in downtown Whitehorse underway

Former city building on Fourth Avenue also set for take down

The iconic old Dairy Queen building at the corner of Second Avenue and Elliott Street in downtown Whitehorse is being demolished. 

The News witnessed a handful of people observing the take down on the morning of Oct. 13.  

The former Municipal Services Building at 4210 Fourth Ave. is also slated for demolition, according to a City of Whitehorse press release.  

The sidewalk in front of the city building is closed to facilitate demolition, per the release.  

Demolition of the city building is expected to proceed over the coming weeks.
