Craig Hougen is the Yukon’s new representative to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce board.

“We’re quite thrilled to have someone with Craig’s experience representing the Yukon on the national scene, as it relates to chamber issues,” said Jerome Babyn, chair of the Yukon Chamber of Commerce.

Hougen and his wife, Mary-Jane Warshawski, own Coast Mountain Sports. He is also president of the Great Northern Ski Society, which owns and operates the Mount Sima ski hill.

Business runs in the family. Hougen’s father, Rolf, pioneered the cable television business in the territory and established the Hougen Group, which owns a clutch of retail stores, car dealerships and a radio station.

On the federal chamber board, Hougen replaces Ray Wells, who, having recently retired, chose not to seek another term. Hougen’s term lasts two years. (John Thompson)
