Free wireless Internet service will be available in city buildings until Jan. 7, said Mike Stevely, manager of business and information technology.

Free wireless Internet service will be available in city buildings until Jan. 7, said Mike Stevely, manager of business and information technology. The service has already been available at the Canada Games Centre for people who have annual memberships.

“The Internet’s a big part of everyone’s lives,” said Stevely.

The city already has Wi-Fi for its staff, it’s now extending the service to the public.

People won’t be able to download videos on the network, but they should be able to do most other things, he said. Users can log on using the network named “city wifi.” There is no password.

The city will decide if it will continue the service after Jan. 7.
