Free Internet now available at the Whitehorse airport

Travellers waiting for their flights at Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport will now be able to use the Internet – for free.

“Airport users have indicated that this is a service that they value and we have responded,” Minister of Highways and Public Works Scott Kent said in a press release Monday. “Airport Wi-Fi service will help keep Yukoners and visitors to Yukon better connected when they travel.”

The territory’s six visitor information centres already offer free Wi-Fi.

“The service will be very useful for visitors as they plan their time in Yukon, and search for the many excellent accommodation, dining and recreation options throughout the territory,” Tourism Minister Elaine Taylor said in a statement.

Gone are the days when travellers couldn’t share selfies from the airport’s waiting area using free Internet.

“We also hope it provides another opportunity for visitors leaving Yukon to tell their friends and relatives back home about their travels here and all the territory has to offer,” Taylor said.
