The Village of Carmacks is seeking donations to help a family whose house burnt down in October.

Elsie Davies and Dave Acker lost all of their belongings in the fire.

“The house completely burnt to the ground,” said Cory Bellmore, the community’s chief administrative officer.

Davies was home with her dogs at the time of the fire but escaped to safety. The dogs were also unharmed.

Acker was out of the territory at the time for medical reasons.

Several house fires have destroyed Carmacks homes in recent years, including one in February of this year and one in November of 2011.

Donations to Davies and Acker can be made at the Village of Carmacks, Carmacks Health and Social Services, or the Association of Yukon Communities in Horwood’s Mall in Whitehorse.
