The federal elections were called March 23 amid a trade war with the United States.
A new federal government is expected to be named tonight, April 28, as Canada’s 2025 snap election gets underway.
The main parties vying for the 343 seats in the House of Commons are Mark Carney’s Liberals, Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives, Jagmeet Singh’s New Democrats, Elizabeth May and Jonathan Pedneault’s Greens, Yves-François Blanchet’s Bloc Québécois and Maxime Bernier’s People’s Party of Canada.
Polls are open in the Yukon from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

To find out your local poll location, visit the Elections Canada website and type in your street address. Alternatively, Canadians can look at their voter registration cards. Voters can only visit their specified polling location.
