“We’re in the initial stages of an investigation relating to mail,” said RCMP spokesperson Sergeant Mark Groves. “I’m not sure if it was at a remote location or if it was at the main building.”
The RCMP wouldn’t offer any more details.
Canada Post spokesperson Lillian Au from the Vancouver office offered to call Canada Post in Whitehorse to get more information.
But after making that call, Au wouldn’t comment on the investigation, or even acknowledge it.
“At this point, it’s hard for me to comment, because I don’t know what you’re talking about, so if the RCMP is doing an investigation it could be anything,” she said.
Marina McCready, the local area manager for the Whitehorse office, did confirm that Canada Post was being investigated.
