Update (3:20 p.m):
RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Calista MacLeod confirmed with the News that the Dec. 20 search warrant executed on the economic development office is related to a separate investigation from an earlier search warrant executed on an office used by the territory's economic development department in June 2024.
Original story:
The RCMP executed another search warrant at Yukon government's economic development department offices to search for information, according to territorial communications advisor Laura Seeley, who alerted media on Dec. 20 via email.
The RCMP had previously executed a search warrant at an economic development office back in June 2024 as part of the ongoing investigation.
Premier Ranj Pillai, who oversees the Economic Development department, confirmed to reporters in November that the investigation may be linked to Yukon Nominee Program activities.
At the time, Pillai added that he believes the investigation is not linked to the department's operational activities but is related to the activities of the department's clients.
It is unclear if the latest search is related to the same investigation.
