The McIntyre neighborhood went dark twice this week.

On Monday, strong winds blew a tree over a power line on Mount McIntyre.

The outage blew out power in McIntyre, Arkell and the Logan subdivisions, said Jay Massie, superintendent of operations at Yukon Electrical Company Ltd.

Lights went out at shortly before four in the afternoon.

The last customers had their power restored by 5:20 p.m., said Massie.

Then on Wednesday, construction in Copper Ridge broke underground power lines.

This time power went out in McIntyre and half of Granger, said Massie.

Power was out for about an hour and a half.

Construction was being done at an infill, where former green space is being primed for residential development.

Yukon Electrical runs many transmission lines, as does the Crown-owned Yukon Energy Corporation, which also generates power.

The two-and-a-half-week-old power outage on Thanksgiving Monday remains a mystery.

Yukon Energy spokesperson Janet Patterson did not return calls by press time.
