Yukoners have a chance to sing their way through the longest nights of the year.

The Longest Night Society is hosting a pair of winter solstice concerts on Dec. 20 and 21 at the Yukon Arts Centre. The concerts, both scheduled for 7 p.m., are set to be a sing-along with music from the Problematic Orchestra, the chamber orchestra that has been entertaining the territory since 2016.

A song book will be prepared for audience members to sing along with guests including Sarah Hamilton and Bria Rose as well as Problematic Orchestra ensemble members Hannah Mazurek and Daniel Janke.

Organizers expect a large part of the program will be made up of songs audience members will know before they arrive with folk, popular and seasonal tunes to join in with. Along with this, organizers say the audience will hear from local composers and arrangers showing off new works.

Tickets for the shows are available via the Yukon Arts Centre’s website.
