The Food Bank Society of Yukon got some Christmas atmosphere in the middle of May as Whitehorse's Garbage Truck Santa, known as Wayne Henderson when he's not behind the wheel of the famous and well-lit truck, dropped off a donation made from the sale of Christmas cards this past winter.
The cards, bearing artwork from Chris Caldwell, have been on sale for the past few years. This year, Henderson was able to give the food bank $1,600. He dropped off the cheque on May 14.
The artwork shows a somewhat exaggerated scene of a typical December day for Henderson, driving the truck decorated with numerous Christmas lights and visiting excited children beneath the northern lights.
