Open letter to RCMP acting commanding officer and superintendent Peter Clark re death of Raymond Silverfox while in custody:

I am outraged and appalled by the treatment of Silverfox in custody. All reports are that he was a good man, and though I believe he was, frankly it is irrelevant. Absolutely no one should be treated in this hideously disrespectful, inhumane manner.

The core values of the RCMP are integrity, honesty, professionalism, compassion, respect and accountability. Sadly, none of these fine qualities were evident in the behaviour of your members on the night Silverfox died.

Canada’s national police force, which is committed to preserve the peace, uphold the law and provide quality service in partnership with communities, has profoundly and tragically failed. It is not only Silverfox’s family, friends and First Nation who are grieving.

We all are.
