For the first two weeks of March 2013, women from around the globe will be meeting in New York City to attend the Status of Women Commission at the United Nations.
I am pleased to inform you that former Whitehorse resident Gloria Hockley has been appointed to attend as a representative for Canada. She is one of two people representing the Anglican Church of Canada.
This year is a very important theme: “prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls.” There will also be a review theme of “caregiving for both genders in the context of HIV/AIDS.” Congratulations to Gloria for this important recognition.
