As a Yukoner I am following with interest the dealings of our government in regards to mining in the territory. I personally visit Keno two to three times in the summer for recreational purposes and have sent, over the last 12 years, from $1,000 to $12,000 worth of tourism business into region.

Every year I send about 400 tourists with a rental car or RV into the territory with maps and suggestions which include exploring the Silver Trail.

I am appalled that our government has not reacted in a more professional way and assisted the community of Keno.

I can’t believe that a government spends significant amounts of taxpayer dollars investing in tourism development in a community and than ignores all of it when the mining industry comes knocking.

It looks like we are moving from the slogan Larger than Life into Larger Dollars, Bigger Impact.
