The late Todd Hardy led the formation of Habitat For Humanity Yukon in 2003.

Like our parent organization, Habitat For Humanity, our mandate is to provide simple, decent affordable housing to those who would not qualify or be able to afford a conventional mortgage.

Our program is about home ownership, which we see as a long-term solution designed to break the poverty cycle; a hand-up, not a hand-out.

Since 2003, and with tremendous community support, we have built six houses for eligible Yukon families and we are getting set to build three more. We are excited to announce that in 2011 we will break ground on a new triplex in the Ingram subdivision and are looking for three Yukon families to make these houses their homes.

Applications for these houses are available only at the public presentations that are scheduled at the Whitehorse Public Library on Thursday, February 17th at 7 p.m. and Sunday, February 20th at 1 p.m. You must attend a public presentation to pick up an application.

If owning a Habitat home seems like the right solution for you, please attend one of our public presentations and learn about the Habitat Yukon process from breaking ground to moving in.

The Family Selection Committee looks forward to seeing you there.

For further information please call 456-4349 or e-mail info@habitatyukon.org.
