I take a bit of umbrage at Richard Mostyn’s editorial in the Yukon News (April 9th) suggesting people get off the buses.

The city and especially Transit itself have put in a lot of effort to get an improved service for people who use these buses. I realize it does not fit everyone’s schedule, but that is what is trying to be fixed. The people that criticize the effort certainly do not use the bus.

About the only thing that I can agree with Mostyn is that approaching the problem supplying parking for more cars in the downtown area is also not the answer. I think it is time that some of our corporate citizens as well as some government people start making an effort to support council and transit in making this work. After all, it is your tax dollars being used for the system.

I would be willing to bet Mostyn has never ridden a bus in this city. He should also realize there is a lot of the population in this city that cannot afford a car, so have to depend on the bus. To make the system as viable for them is certainly nothing to scoff at. Mostyn’s attitude towards the environment certainly leaves a lot to be desired.

The system is not being studied but going to be implemented. Why do you not come out to one of the information meetings before being so critical?
