Open letter to Premier Dennis Fentie and John Edzerza, justice minister:
I am now close to 85 years old and have been a resident of the Yukon since May 1972.
I attended the TOYA meeting on May 6 regarding the destruction of our backcountry due to the misuse of ATVs.
I believe we need to have some regulations, which will prevent ATV damage to our wilderness.
I have seen the damage ATVs can do and I believe the Yukon government must act now before it is too late. In the Yukon, there are no rules at all when it comes to ATVs and the territory is one of the few places where this is so.
I urge you to take this issue seriously and pass some basic ATV rules that everyone can follow.
