I’m writing to many at once with my problem in the hopes someone may actually finally take this seriously.

A few weeks ago, my wife was on her way home after getting groceries. We live in Lobird so have to travel up the south access, across the highway and around the new round-about at the bypass.

On travelling up the hill she was tailgated by a large pickup truck, which was literally inches behind her. He may have been perturbed she was not travelling at a high rate of speed which so many drivers seem to do up that direction. He proceeded at this point to move along beside her and try to force her off the road by moving in closer and closer to her vehicle. She was terrified.

She had to stop at the traffic light at the highway and the truck stayed the same distance from her. The man inside dropped his window and started throwing garbage at the vehicle before he sped off turning right down the highway in the direction of the airport.

My wife arrived home very distraught, literally shaking and crying.

She could not get a good look at his licence plate since it was covered in snow. She has a fairly good description of the vehicle and may call the RCMP once she has settled down.

To make this incident a little more poignant is the fact she is seven months pregnant and already a mother of two. She has pregnancy problems and high stress situations such as this can cause her to go into labour.

Im disgusted at this.

And this kind of problem is a daily occurrence. Traffic drives through this area at incredible rates of speed for the conditions or even in general. Tailgating around here is extremely prevalent and exceptionally dangerous.

People’s lack of care and attention has gotten us almost struck at the new roundabout at least three times in the past two months. How many others?

All in all this something I’m somewhat used to dealing with in areas like Vancouver or the Okanagan, but some folks here have a strange sense of entitlement to the road.
