This is a message from a kid who doesn’t want the forest torn apart.
That forest means so much to me. If it got houses and more people it could ruin my life.
I play there! There’s strawberry patches and pretty flowers; birds nest there!
It’s the only place I can play in the woods because everywhere else is too far for me to be allowed to go by myself.
There’s a pond where I find turtles and fish. The air smells fresher there.
I take my dogs for walks there, a lot of people do.
I love animals and the Yukon.
The soil is rich because we have green space. I like watching new plants grow.
Just let trees grow big and tall and it will save us all!
All those trees are growing and falling and growing again. I love that.
Anyway, I’m just saying we’ve got lots of space to make stuff so please don’t take my forest away from me.
Every time I see a tree cut it will hurt my heart and I will feel pain.
Somebody is chopping down a greenspace in my friend’s neighbourhood.
There is a sea of sawdust behind her house. No more trees. No more wildlife. It smells different.
