It is time to listen to those without a voice.
We as a community need to care for our most vulnerable and that includes animals. To think of the capital city with a population of 27,322 being without an animal shelter seems absolutely bizarre.
Since the opening of the Mae Bachur Animal Shelter in 1998, we have successfully taken care of thousands of animals in need. For instance, the most recent year shows that 881 animals were taken in and cared for by the shelter.
I am concerned about all the animals that will be affected if we don’t continue supporting this community’s shelter. Reverting to the practice of euthanizing animals is inhumane.
I appeal to our community that we continue to support the Mae Bachur Animal Shelter with food, volunteer labour, and donations in any way that we can.
