I’ve recently returned from a wonderful 10-day fall backpacking trip into the pristine wilderness of the Donjek glacier area in Kluane National Park. A large early snowfall prevented me being able to get back over the mountain passes and exiting via the Donjek River, which would have put me overdue for my return date. This necessitated the decision to request for help via my SPOT GPS.

Through a number of people in Kluane National Park (Craig McKinnon), RCMP (Const. Kim MacKellar), TransNorth helicopters (Doug Makken) and my partner Stan McNevin, a helicopter was mobilized to assist with me getting out. I am very grateful for their assistance. I’d also like to thank David Blakeburn from Kluane National Park for the backcountry information given to me and his tremendous enthusiasm for the outdoors. A huge thanks to you all.
