Re Yukon’s Bottled Water Guru Plans Expansion, December 10:

In describing his breathtakingly exciting plans for expansion of his bottled water enterprise, water guru Paul Sheridan makes the most amazing statement: “The public doesn’t have access to this water,” he said.

The public may not “have access” to the water in the Yukon River system, but here’s a news flash: The days of “Éinterrupting that feed and taking some of it out É” for sale, as if the water was just another commodity, are over, guys!

Hopefully, despite Councillor Doug Graham’s lackadaisical attitude about this whole scheme, Crestview is more attuned to the times: water is a part of the commons Ð no one can “own” any part of the commons Ð they belong to everyone.

Selling it is not part of today’s reality.
