I recently watched online the collapse of the scotch shelf of the Whitehorse liquor store. Entertaining and tragic at the same time.
There was something said in the CBC article that did bother me, though. The clip was obtained though request to the access-to-information act! WTF!
Why is a falling shelf considered a secret by the government? I don’t see how making this public will damage national security.
Will ISIS now mastermind a plot to attack all our shelves and cause our economy to collapse?
Really folks, I know that the knee-jerk reactions of all “open and accountable” governments is to keep everything, including the location of the bathrooms, secret, but why is making this public such a project?
If governments want more respect from the electorate maybe a little more intelligence should go into the secrets they keep.
Sigh!
