Re “Bank aids evil green conspiracy” by Wade Carrell (letters, the News, January 6):
Such a strong argument representing such a beleaguered Canadian industry (mining)!
An industry which is: heavily subsidized by government; has free access to all public lands to the exclusion of all other interests including land use planning, and operates in a “bubble” regulatory regime which allows some miners to feel safe in espousing the opinion, that anyone expressing a different view than theirs is conspiring to destroy mining.
It makes me happy that at least some Canadian industries, including banking, can recognize that there are more sides to an issue than just one. Perhaps, if more members of the mining community join the 21st century all sides could move ahead together!
