Us “Whitehorse-ians” are very lucky to have someone as dedicated to the general public as Ranj Pillai serving on city council. Not only did he vote against all other councillors during the city’s operation and maintenance budget earlier this spring, but he is now the only councillor openly questioning “what happened?”

I would assume that these actions will make him unpopular with other councillors and senior management staff of the city.

However, they do resonate very well with citizens and voters who should expect this type of behaviour and accountability from their elected officials.

Unfortunately, for the most part, we have come to accept a lack of both, and it is very encouraging to see Pillai step up to the plate for his constituents.
