Mr. Karp,

time to tell the truth

In the October 9th edition of the Yukon News, “Federal job program draws ire” it was reported that, “Rick Karp, president of the Yukon Chamber of Commerce, says no consultation occurred that he was aware of” in response to my comment that our government had consulted with the business community to create an effective Canada Job Grant Program.

You were quoted as saying, “If there was consultations, it wasn’t with anyone here as far as I know. I would like to meet a person who was consulted.”

Well, Mr. Karp, let me introduce you to ... Mr. Karp.

In fact, you were in attendance and participated in the May 14th Canada Job Grant Consultations held at the Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre. I am deeply concerned and perplexed by the fact that you fail to recall these important federal consultations, your own attendance and participation.

Yukon citizens deserve the truth, and our business community deserves sound representation. I’m certain the other members of our business and academic communities as well as the territorial government representatives recall the input they provided. Remembering your own input at a federal consultation would be a great start.
