Re mining community’s deafening silence:
You know what else frosts my tulips? Does anyone hear a peep out of the mining community about Capstone Resources’ discharge of wastewater into the Yukon River Watershed? Where are all the professional geologists that assured us during the Peel Watershed debacle that this is the modern age of mining and environmental disasters were a thing of the past? Where is the Yukon Chamber of Mines? Ironic, isn’t it, that they have the same name as the river? Doesn’t that mean anything to you? Is the best “modern” mining could do in 2009 the untreated release of 900,000 cubic metres of wastewater into our namesake river?
Do you really believe that you are “protecting” mining by staying silent? Be ready for the backlash à coming to a theatre near you.
