I am shocked by some of the comments in your paper suggesting there was something improper or unfair about a citizen questioning a candidate in the byelection.
In a letter to the editor in the December 8 issue, Rick Nielsen slams Roxanne Livingstone for questioning NDP candidate Liz Hanson on her track record on a serious human rights issue when she was an official of Indian Affairs.
The case involved a homeless man who died after Indian Affairs denied him the kind of emergency help available to nonnatives. Discrimination in essential services should not be tolerated by anybody.
It disgusts me that some people can’t stand to hear anyone raise the subject. Roxanne Livingstone is a decent, caring person who stands up for people in disadvantaged circumstances. Snarky, cynical people who impugn her motives need to get a life.
