Open letter to Minister Patrick Rouble:
Regarding the two Filipino gentlemen who are in violation of the Immigration Act:
As a Yukon resident for well over 40 years, I’ve known others who have made mistakes and, after reviews by authorities, they have been forgiven and gone on to be law-abiding, productive citizens and a credit to the community.
Indeed, a mistake was made, but is it serious enough to send these men back to the situation they left back in the Philippines?
Both of these men are healthy and ambitious, are willing and very capable of working and learning whatever task they are assigned.
Also, our Filipino community is anxious and able to assist them in their effort to become a credit to themselves, as well as society at large.
It is my hope that you will see a way to keep these two gentlemen here in Canada, the land of hope and opportunity.
